CGM: When it comes to gameplay, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is undoubtedly the most polished and enjoyable entry in the series. Its a shame, however, that it entirely abandons the eccentricities, zaniness, and terrific storytelling that this franchise is known for. This doesnt feel like a Metal Gear game, but rather an entirely new project that series creator Hideo Kojima so obviously wanted to make. Its just simply called Metal Gear Solid.

Metal Gear Solid V is a big, beautiful game that’s managed to garner quite a bit of high praise from critics and players alike. But while classic MGS DNA still pumps through its veins, Director Hideo Kojima and his team took a big risk and changed up the formula quite a bit in this outing. Thankfully, that risk paid off.
